From Tradition to Your Story

As a new homebuilder dedicated to creating spaces where traditions can flourish, we find ourselves reflecting on the moments that truly make a house a home. As 2025 winds down to a close, we are fast approaching one of America’s most treasured holidays. The day we know and love for turkey dinners, family gatherings, and watching our favorite teams has been evolving for centuries. The Thanksgiving story is rich, complex, and ever-changing.

As Your Backdrop

While Thanksgiving traditions have evolved over the years, one thing has stayed the same. Thanksgiving is a holiday that brings families together in a meaningful way for connection, comfort, and shared memories. That is why having a home designed for gathering makes all the difference. Whether it’s hosting the family dinner, watching the parade in a cozy living room, or enjoying football out on the patio, your home provides the perfect setting for your traditions to continue.

As Your Setting

At Signature Homes, our homes are designed with your family in mind. From open-concept kitchens that are perfect for preparing your Thanksgiving dinner, to 20-foot living rooms where everyone can relax together, we have created homes where traditions are made and memories last a lifetime. Imagine hosting your friends and family in a home that is as welcoming as the holiday itself.

As a Tradition of Sharing

In 1621, the Pilgrims in Plymouth celebrated their first successful harvest with a three-day feast, joined by members of the Wampanoag tribe. They shared food, games, and fellowship. Though much has changed since then, this gathering laid the foundation for the Thanksgiving we celebrate today: a time for families to come together and give thanks.

As a Modern Holiday

Our earliest depictions of Thanksgiving were rooted in prayer and harvest, but the Thanksgiving of today is a vibrant blend of family, food, entertainment, and reflection. Over the last 100 years, several traditions have become mainstays of the holiday’s identity. Our favorite traditional dishes now include roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a pumpkin pie for dessert. Since 1924, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been on all living room televisions. Next up on the daily slate is football. College and professional football on Thanksgiving is a time-honored tradition for families in the southeast. Volunteering at a local shelter or running a turkey trot have also proven themselves as a family tradition for some. Whatever you choose to do, this is a time for family, and the day is what you make it.
